POUVG, schools, kindergartens, City Hall… Electricity from solar power plants

Twenty-two public buildings in the Velika Gorica area receive solar power plants. Most of them have already been installed, just as solar power plant in the largest school in Gorica, Elementary School Nikola Hribar, where a press conference was held on the topic of the project ‘Velika Gorica – Solar City – Countdown’.

The generated electricity will be used to cover its own consumption at the locations of the facilities themselves, which has already proved successful at the Elementary School Novo Čiče, and with this move the City has stepped into the energy transformation of Velika Gorica.

– Today we gathered to talk about the installation of solar power plants on public buildings in Velika Gorica. We have withdrawn funds for 22 solar power plants on 22 buildings. Gorica is the only city that has withdrawn so much funds, by comparison, Karlovac sets solar power plants on 14 buildings, and Zagreb on eight. The projects were so well done that all public buildings that were statically satisfactory passed the tender, so I would like to thank our head Gordana Mikulčić and everyone who worked on it. After we made a pilot project in a school in Novo Čiče, today we witness that energy savings are 89 percent and these are concrete results. This is an environmentally friendly solution and the best answer in today’s time when energy prices are unpredictable and we believe that savings on other facilities will be like that – said Mayor Krešimir Ačkar.

The value of this project is slightly more than 654 thousand euros, of which 533 thousand were financed from grants through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area for the period of 2014. until 2021 year, while the other funds are financed by the City and its partners.

– Here we are installing a solar power plant with a nominal power of 94 kilowatts, it is also our largest power plant, it will be connected by the end of this year, as will most of the remaining installed power plants. The first one was in August at the Polytechnic, at the beginning of last week we started installing solar power plants, we still have to put them at the Tourist Board and the Community Center Mala Buna – said Gordana Mikulčić Krnjaja, advisor from the Administrative Department for Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection.
